Merry Christmas

from your friendly neighborhood Marshmallow King

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

I ran into a friend of mine the other day.  He began to tell me that he had decided he knew who the Marshmallow King was and told me how he knew this was true.  Its moments like that that I live for. (a bit of an exaggeration)  It is funny to me that whenever people have talked I have never heard my name spoken.  Maybe it has, but at least not in front of me.  Oh well.

I'm surprised noone picked up on my talk about symmetry in my last post.  Symmetry is defined as regularity of accordance or form; excellence of proportion.  The quote from Dobson was the second post that I made on this site as Marshmallow King and so following the rules of symmetry it should be the next to last as well.  For those of you still scratching your heads that means this will be the final post of the Marshmallow King.

I know, I know.  I'll give you a second to recover...

...Ok, now wipe away the tears and compose yourself.

Perhaps you are wondering what has brought about this unexpected turn of events.  Could it be that I fear discovery of my identity?  Could it be that nobody likes me anymore?  Or could it be that I just feel so dominated and inadequate when talking with Adam Berry that I just can't carry on anymore?  ummmm, nope

I'm just bored I guess.  My stat tracker shows more people coming here than ever and there are surely many more topics we could talk about but I'm just bored with it all.  I guess I came to the realization that the time I use on here is not time well spent.  An episode of Commander and Chief has become much more appealing to me than the nonsense that occurs on Xanga.  Is Xanga a place where people come to figuratively have orgies.   uhhhh, no.  I don't even know what that is supposed to mean.  But I don't recall ever receiving that sort of pleasure from Xanga.

Is Xanga an online journal to share your thoughts?  Well, I guess it could be but I see more people using it to complain about their terrible lives so everyone will feel sorry for themselves.  Is Xanga a communication tool for friends and family?  Well, I guess it could be and it sometimes is, but most of the time it would seem to replace alot of the time we could actually be talking with each other.  Instead of reporting things on Xanga why can't we pick up the phone or hang out and talk about these things?  I've noticed that many people will use Xanga to say things that they are too cowardly to say to the face of a person.  The pot calling the kettle black?  perhaps, but I think it is true.

So what is Xanga?  Well, I've arrived at the conclusion that it is nothing more than one of many ways that we all use to focus attention on ourselves.  We all desire to be the center of our universe and finally we have our own webpage where we can be just that.  And if nobody comments me or pays attention then I quit.  LOL, I can't tell you how many times I have seen that.

Oh well, Xanga is what you make it.  A moral neutrality like everything else we come into contact with; either an agent for good or evil I suppose.  So use it wisely.

In closing, our God is a consuming fire.  He does not accept our comfort with the world.  We are wretched, we are hypocritical, we are cowardly.  Our words mean nothing when our lives our ordinary. Our complacency and satisfaction is a stench in His nostrils.  We are debauched, broken, humiliating, and foolish. But, thank God, we are loved.

Be Intolerant : Because Some Things Are Just Stupid
By Ryan Dobson, Jefferson Scott
see related

"It takes courage to stand up for Jesus and biblical values in today's world.  If you do that, you may be heckled and abused.  But you know what?  It doesn't matter.  Because pleasing God and displeasing man will make Judgment Day a whole lot better for you than if you'd spent your life pleasing man and displeasing God.

I'm intolerant.  I'm not ignorant, but I am intolerant.  I'm not a racist or a bigot, but I am intolerant.  I don't hate people;  I disagree with ideas.  Make no mistake, I am intolerant.

I am intolerant because I love.  The world hates me because I love in this way, but I cannot stop.  I dare not stop.  I serve a Lord who loved enough to be intolerant.  The world hated Him, too.  If I say I follow Him, I have to do what he did."

Ryan Dobson in Be Intolerant

Symmetry is very important to me.

Stated another way:

"What we need to restore power to the Christian testimony is not soft talk about brotherhood but an honest recognition that two human races occupy the earth simultaneously: a fallen race that sprang from the loins of Adam and a regenerate race that is born of the Spirit through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.

To accept this truth requires a tough-mindedness and a spiritual maturity that modern Christians simply do not possess.  To face up to it hardly contributes to that "peace of mind" after which our religious weaklings bleat so plaintively.

For myself, I long ago decided that I would rather know the truth than be happy in ignorance.  If I cannot have both truth and happiness, give me truth.  We'll have a long time to be happy in heaven."

A.W. Tozer in his essay, "The Once-born and the Twice-born"

The topic of tatoos has been brought up on my friend's xanga.  That is a topic that I go back and forth on.  I'll give my take on the issue and you can give yours.  I'm pretty open to input on this issue.

I'm not sure about tatoos, it was clearly God's original intent for us not to wear tatoos (ot law) but most don't recognize the authority of this law anymore.  I'm just not sure...Its hard to form a biblical view on it based on so little material.  Yes, Revelation 19 shows Jesus with His title written on His thigh but I certainly don't think this is a tatoo in the sense that we understand tatoos.   My personal opinion, outside of the Bible, is that the God of the universe designed and created my body.  I think that anything that I would do to physically change the look of this creation is probably only going to detract from the creation.  But as I said, thats just my opinion.  I don't see a right or wrong coming out of scripture.

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
   - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA),

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
   - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA),

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
   - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
   - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA),

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
   - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY),

I am so sick of the liberal left treating us like idiots by acting like WMDs in Iraq were some sort of creation by President Bush.  EVERYONE knew and has known what Saddam was doing.  Yes, he had them.  No, we didn't find them.  But for the idiot democrats and others to assert that this was a huge lie made up to bankroll Halliburton shows a total disregard for truth and history.  Democrats make me sick.

P.S.  Congrats to Jeremy and Adam for tying in last week's poll.  You ran a good race.  I guess we'll let you decide who wins it in reality.
